Utilizing Fiction to Promote English Language Acquisition: A Key to Unlocking Communicative Competence and Critical Thinking Skills In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, it has become increasingly evident that the ability to communicate effectively and think critically are crucial skills for survival and success in both personal and professional life. This is particularly true in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where English is widely used as a second language, and proficiency in the language is essential for academic and professional advancement. However, despite the emphasis on critical thinking and communication skills in the curriculum, many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) university students struggle to achieve adequate communicative competence and critical thinking abilities. To address this issue, Utilizing Fiction to Promote English Language Acquisition presents a novel approach to integrating literature into EFL classrooms to enhance communicative competence and critical thinking skills. Based on a three-year research project conducted at a private university in Dubai, this book explores the potential of using literary texts to promote communicative competence and critical thinking among EFL learners. The study reveals that traditional teaching methods often fall short in developing these essential skills, and that incorporating fiction into the classroom can be a game-changer.

Utiliser la fiction pour promouvoir l'apprentissage de l'anglais : la clé pour révéler la compétence communicative et le savoir-faire de la pensée critique Dans le paysage technologique en évolution rapide d'aujourd'hui, il est de plus en plus évident que la capacité de communiquer et de penser de manière efficace est un savoir-faire essentiel pour la survie et le succès dans la vie personnelle et professionnelle.
