American Women and the Repeal of Prohibition: A Study of the Evolution of Technology and Human Survival The Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibited the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages, was ratified in 1920 and remained in effect for thirteen years before being repealed by the Twenty-First Amendment in 1933. This remarkable turn of events was largely due to the efforts of a large number of well-organized women who promoted repeal, argues Kenneth D. Rose in his book, American Women and the Repeal of Prohibition. These women, who were often mirror images of their prohibitionist counterparts in the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), pursued diametrically opposed political agendas, yet shared a common social feminist ideology focused on home protection.
American Women and the Cancel of Prohibition: A Study of the Evolution of Technology and Human Survival
Ten niezwykły obrót wydarzeń był w dużej mierze spowodowany wysiłkami dużej liczby dobrze zorganizowanych kobiet, które przyczyniły się do uchylenia, Kenneth D. Rose argumentuje w książce „American Women and the Repeal of Prohibition”. Te kobiety, które często były lustrzanym obrazem swoich koleżanek i kolegów z grupy prohibicjonistów w Kobiecej Unii Chrześcijańskiej Temperancji (WCTU), prowadziły diametralnie przeciwstawne agendy polityczne, podzielając jednocześnie wspólną społeczną ideologię feministyczną skupioną na ochronie domu.

Amerikan Kadınları ve Yasağın İptali: Teknolojinin Evrimi ve İnsanın Hayatta Kalması Üzerine Bir Çalışma Alkollü içeceklerin üretimini, satışını ve tüketimini yasaklayan ABD Anayasası'ndaki On sekizinci değişiklik 1920'de onaylandı ve 1933'teki Yirmi Birinci Değişiklik tarafından yürürlükten kaldırılmadan önce on üç yıl boyunca yürürlükte kaldı. Olayların bu olağanüstü dönüşü, büyük ölçüde, yürürlükten kaldırmaya katkıda bulunan çok sayıda iyi örgütlenmiş kadının çabalarından kaynaklanıyordu, Kenneth D. Rose, "Amerikan Kadınları ve Yasağın Yürürlükten Kaldırılması'adlı kitabında savunuyor. Genellikle Women's Christian Temperance Union'daki (WCTU) yasakçı meslektaşlarının ayna görüntüsü olan bu kadınlar, evi korumaya odaklı ortak bir sosyal feminist ideolojiyi paylaşırken, taban tabana zıt siyasi gündemler izlediler.
