An Offering: The Tale of Therese In the small town of Brunnendorf, Germany in the year 1504, eight-year-old Therese lives a life filled with longing and hope. Orphaned and living in a single room with her mother, she dreams of finding a home and a family to love and care for her. When her mother sends her to visit her grandparents in the next town, Therese is filled with excitement and anticipation, hoping that this trip will bring her the stability and security she so desperately desires. As she walks to her grandparents', Therese stops to pick up vegetables that have fallen off a passing wagon, only to be accused of being a beggar and attacked with stones by the local villagers. Rescued by a kind-hearted nun from the nearby convent, Therese finds herself in the loving arms of Sister Margarete, who takes her in and provides her with comfort and care. Therese is overjoyed to be welcomed into the convent, but soon realizes that grace and forgiveness do not come easily.
