The Aesthetics of International Law: Understanding the Modern Phenomenon International law, as we know it today, is a fundamentally modern phenomenon that has evolved over the centuries to address the changing political and social landscape of the world. From its roots in the "law of nations" of the 19th century, to the elaborate treaty structures of the post-First World War era, and the institutions and tribunals established after the Second World War, international law has been shaped by the same intellectual currents that have influenced modern literature.
