Book Cities, Business, and the Politics of Urban Violence in Latin America Introduction: In this groundbreaking book, we delve into the intricate relationship between cities, business, and the politics of urban violence in Latin America. We explore how major developing world cities respond to the challenge of urban violence, and how political projects shape the interaction between urban political economies and patterns of armed territorial control. Our focus is on city mayors and their reliance on clientelism to secure and maintain power, and how it impacts their responses to violence, perpetuating or weakening local political exclusion. We develop a new typology of patterns of armed territorial control and examine the unique challenges and opportunities for confronting urban violence in Colombia's three principal cities - Medellin, Cali, and Bogota - both historically and over time. Chapter 1: The Evolution of Technology and its Impact on Urban Violence Technological advancements have revolutionized the way we live, work, and communicate. However, these advancements also bring about new challenges, such as urban violence.
Book Cities, Business, and the Politics of Urban Violence in Latin America

Book Cities, Business, and the Politics of Urban Violence in Latin America
