The Paid Family Leave program is funded by employee payroll deductions and administered by the New York State Department of Financial Services. The law applies to employers with one or more employees and covers most employees, including those working part-time, seasonal, or temporary positions. Employees must have worked for their employer for at least 30 days before becoming eligible for paid family leave. Employers are required to provide employees with notice of their rights under the law and to display a poster in the workplace informing employees about the program.
