A People's History of Heaven In the heart of contemporary Bangalore, nestled between towering high-rise apartments and cutting-edge technology incubators, lies a tenacious slum known as Heaven. This tight-knit community is home to five young women, each on the cusp of womanhood, who forge an unbreakable bond despite their diverse backgrounds and experiences. The group includes a politically driven graffiti artist, a transgender Christian convert, a blind girl with a passion for dance, and the queer daughter of a hijabi union leader. When the local government threatens to demolish their humble tin shacks to make way for a glittering shopping mall, the girls and their mothers refuse to be erased from the city's landscape. With determination and grit, they wage war against the bulldozers sent to bury their homes, and ultimately, against the city that wishes families like them would remain hidden forever. As the girls fight for their right to exist, they discover the power of love, friendship, and collective resistance.
